Description: | Step back in time with this vintage, mostly original, true survivor. 4WD Super Hurricane Six with manual tranny. This truck screams 1965, Summer of 69, etc. 1960s hand buffed, Caterpillar yellow covers this real life piece of 60s history. Formerly driven by the Director of Field Training for the National School of Heavy Equipment, Charlotte, North Carolina. The school was founded by Gilbert S. Shaw in 1955 and operated until 1976. Apparently it was the first school of its kind in the world! It was painted for the school, then sold, had a 1970s restoration and then sat for another 30 years. The 70s restoration included a dash modification & a coat of ugly, drab tan. Our restoration process included many steps of hand sanding and polishing the entire vehicle to expose the schools door sign and yellow paint job. Plus of course, clean up, repair, and history research.
This truck is an incredibly preserved piece of Willys/Jeep and Excavation history. Included in the sale is a 1961 Popular Mechanics magazine with a full page article/ad and a postcard for the National School of Heavy Equipment. Also a collection of vintage tools to complete the look! Its ready for the Back to the 50s show, your local town parade or a private museum. Could be driven daily. Driveable as is, but needs a few minor details still being worked on.
Willing to take projects or small bobcat in partial trade plus cash. Contact Bill at 303-378-1725 for more information. Pictures below are work in progress shots. Truck is located in Boulder, Colorado. |
