Description:
I have personally owned this Jeep for about 6 years. The car runs good and drives - it doesnt burn oil, doesnt smoke. It has good acceleration and easily cruises down the highway at 70+ mph. The engine sounds good, no strange noises. It idles like it should. All of the windows, including the rear window, function properly. The air-conditioner cools and the electric seats function properly. It just needs a little TLC to be back in great shape.

When I purchased the Jeep I was told that it had been sitting behind a house for several years. The body was in great shape, practically no damage and not a sign of rust. The tires were rotten, and varmints had taken up residence in the engine compartment. I trailered the car home and discovered that the animals had only built nests and had not damaged anything under the hood (mostly just squirrels storing acorns - no rats or mice). I changed the oil, put some gas in the tank, stuck in a battery and started it up. The transfer case was stuck in neutral so I decided to install a rebuilt transfer case. I replaced the brake proportioning valve. I have installed new plugs, wires, distributor cap/rotor, master cylinder, proportioning valve. After-market am/fm cassette.

Seems to be original brown paint. Clear coat has started to fade from roof and hood. The wood grain is mostly in good condition, however it is faded on the drivers side as can be seen in the pictures. All trim pieces appear to be intact and most are in excellent condition. As far as I have been able to tell it doesnt appear that the Jeep has been wrecked, if it has been the repair is very good.

The window glass is in good condition. The drivers seat upholstery is in poor condition. Drivers seat has some tears and the passenger seat leather is beginning to show signs of cracking. I have put seat covers on both. The front armrest is in great shape! Most I have seen are broken and floppy. Rear seat is in decent shape, just a few small holes starting, some cracks. Carpet is in good shape, the carpet in the cargo area has signs of fading, but is intact.

Cruise control is not working and I cant seem to get the 4-wheel drive to engage. It has been suggested that this is just a vacuum problem. Heater motor runs, but I cant seem to get the vents to open - no hot air! Again, probably a vacuum issue. I have replaced some vacuum lines, but not all. Something might just be unplugged somewhere. The A/C works great and is cold.

The car drives as it should. It has good acceleration for a car of its weight. The transmission shifts strong and feels normal. The transfer case will not shift out of high range. It has a replacement unit in it. It shifted before it put it in - I believe I might have the linkage in a bind or misadjusted. I was worn out the day I put it in and have never taken the time to crawl under the car to check on it. The new transfer case worked and I never planned on going off-road to need low range so it hasn’t been a big issue with me. I have the original unit that came with the car and it goes with the car. The original was stuck in neutral.

No rust. The only body damage seems to be the left front fender near the bumper-see picture. The rear bumper has damage as can be seen in the pictures. The car doesnt seem to have ever been abused or used off road much if any at all. It still has the AMC mud flaps!

All in all not bad for a 20 year old vehicle. The vehicle comes with the original wheels. I removed the center caps while replacing the tires and just left them off while working on the car - they will be included with the car. The spare is good, but not on an original wheel.

I bought the car to restore and drive. I have been putting about 20 to 100 miles a month on the car (during warm months) and it runs and drives good. I just dont seem to have time nor the money to spend on it. My enthusiasm for the project has faded. Someone needs to drive the Jeep home and enjoy it. Purchaser will need to make their own arrangements to ship the vehicle, or just drive it to its new home.

The Jeep is located at: 1 Trenton Circle, Mcloud, Oklahoma 74851. Call Gary or Rusty 405-964-5828.
